Three kinds of manufacturer
The first kind is the national brand plant: large factories around Istanbul and in the industrial provinces that make the tablets and biscuits Turkish supermarkets are built on, selling through their own export departments and appointed distributors. The second is the regional cluster: Karaman for confectionery and biscuits, Gaziantep for everything built on the pistachio, chocolate with pistachio cream, dragées, lokum, baklava. The third is the small specialist: a workshop making one thing well, often without an export desk at all. The three do not answer a foreign inquiry the same way.
What Gaziantep makes
Gaziantep is the pistachio province, and its chocolate producers work from that: filled bars with pistachio cream and kadayif, pistachio tablets, cream cups, pistachio spread, pistachio-coated dragées, and lokum built around whole kernels. These are the lines that have travelled outside the Turkish diaspora in the last few years, the Dubai-style bar first among them. They are also the lines that a national brand plant does not specialise in.
How a US importer reaches them
The brand plants are reachable through their export departments and are already represented in the US. The regional producers are harder: many have no English-speaking export desk, quote one product at a time and ship full containers of that product only. That gap is where an export company sits. We are not a manufacturer. We buy from Gaziantep producers we have known for years, name the producer on every line of the offer, consolidate several producers into one mixed container and ship on our own account. The importer gets the regional lines with one counterparty, one document set and one loading.
What to check for any Turkish manufacturer
Ask which family of product is quoted, cocoa-butter chocolate or compound coating, because it decides the US label and the summer transport. Ask for the technical data sheet with ingredients, allergens and shelf life, issued in the producer’s name. Ask about FDA facility registration, which belongs to the plant, and about certificates, which are issued to the plant, never to a trader. Ask for the minimum per line and the case and pallet data. A named producer answers all of this on one page; an unnamed one cannot.
Why the regional lines reach the US late
A national brand plant has export staff, English data sheets and a US distributor. A regional Gaziantep producer often has none of the three; its export sales go through traders and companies like ours, and its capacity is planned around the domestic season. That is why a US importer who searches for the pistachio bar finds the brand plants first and the actual makers of the category last. A written offer that names the plant on every line closes that gap.
What the offer from Gaziantep contains
Send a list of the lines you want. Within two working days you receive a written offer in US dollars, FCA Gaziantep, FOB Mersin, CIF or DAP, with the producer’s name, registration status, minimum, case and pallet data and tariff heading for each line. Prices are not published on the site. Payment by bank transfer in two halves, the second against the loading photographs; samples first, free from running production, courier at your cost.
Is Antep Foods one of the chocolate manufacturers in Türkiye?
No. Antep Foods is an export company in Gaziantep. Production takes place at Gaziantep producers we name line by line in the offer; certificates and data sheets are issued in the producer’s name.
Why not buy directly from the producer?
You can, if the producer has an export desk and you take a full container of its lines. The export route makes sense when you want several producers’ lines in one container with one document set.
Which Turkish products are actually growing in the US?
The pistachio lines from Gaziantep: the Dubai-style bar, pistachio spread, coated pistachios and pistachio lokum. The national tablet brands are already distributed and are not our focus.
