Dubai chocolate in the UK trade: the bar, the cups, the jar and the paperwork

Where it sells in Britain

Dessert parlours use the bar and the pistachio-kadayif spread as a topping and a filling; corner shops and Asian and Middle Eastern grocers sell the bar by the piece; cash and carries break pallets into cases for both. Each channel takes a different format: the 100 g bar, 72 per case, for the shelf; the 35 g flowpack, 144 per case, for the counter; pistachio cream cups single, three-pack and in the 75-cup display dome; the 200 g jar of pistachio spread with kadayif, 12 per case, for the parlour kitchen.

Chocolate or compound under UK rules

The UK cocoa and chocolate regulations, carried over from EU law, reserve the name chocolate for products made with cocoa butter and set minimum cocoa solids for milk chocolate. The compound version of the bar, made with vegetable fat, cannot be called chocolate on a UK label and is described as a coating. We say which family is quoted on every line; a dessert parlour that melts the bar may prefer compound, a retailer selling it as a premium bar will want the cocoa-butter version.

The origin paper after Brexit

Türkiye and the UK have a free trade agreement in force since 2021. The A.TR certificate used inside the EU customs union does not apply; preferential duty in the UK rests on an origin declaration on the invoice, and the offer states the tariff heading of each line and what applies on the day. The importer files the entry and is responsible for the UK label with ingredients, allergens, milk and tree nuts here, and the UK address of the responsible business.

Summer, reefer and the route

The cocoa-butter bar travels at a controlled temperature, with a reefer quoted for the warm months; jars, dragées and Turkish delight in the same container do not need it. From Gaziantep the container goes by sea from Mersin to a UK port or by road across Europe; the offer shows both, as FCA Gaziantep, FOB Mersin, CIF or DAP.

What a UK wholesaler adds to the same load

Nobody fills a container with one bar. A cash and carry that takes the Dubai bar usually adds the pistachio spread in both sizes, pistachio tablets, Turkish delight finger rolls in 2 kg inner units for the Turkish and Middle Eastern grocers it serves, and almond dragées in the 3 kg bulk box for the Asian wedding trade. Each line comes from its own Gaziantep producer, on its own pallet, with its own minimum in the offer, and the whole load is planned around the most temperature-sensitive line.

Asking for a price

Send the formats and quantities; the written offer follows within two working days, in US dollars, with the producer named for each line, the minimum, the case and pallet data and the tariff heading. Payment by bank transfer in two halves, the second against the loading photographs. Samples first, free from running production, courier at your cost. Own label is possible on selected lines after the producer confirms.
